Payment methods at NUSTAR Cebu: what money looks like on the property
Two different worlds sit under one roof — the gaming floor runs on cash and chips, the hotels and restaurants take cards like any resort.
Play online →The property runs on two payment systems at once. On the gaming floor — about 21,000 square metres with more than 250 tables and roughly 1,000 machines — the only currency is pesos, converted into chips at a table or credit at a machine, with the cashier's cage handling exchange and redemption. Everywhere else, across the 379-room Fili Hotel, NUSTAR Hotel, the restaurants and The Mall at NUSTAR, cards work as they do in any resort. Because the resort's own online activity is registered under different names — Casino Maxx in the PAGCOR register of licensed casinos dated 16 July 2026, and a NuSTAR online brand held by Premier Online Digital Entertainment Corp. in the register of accredited Gaming System Administrators dated 4 December 2025, an online payment page under this name is an operator's own, and this guide is none of them: we hold no accounts, take no payments and issue nothing.
Where each payment method actually works
- The gaming floor is a cash environment: pesos become chips at a table or credit at a machine, and nothing else settles a bet.
- Hotel stays, restaurants across Mott 32, Il Primo, Umishō and Barcino, and shops in The Mall at NUSTAR take cards in the ordinary way.
- Foreign currency is exchanged at the cage or a resort counter at the posted rate rather than accepted at a table.
- ATMs on an integrated resort carry the usual bank and network charges, and a foreign card adds a conversion spread on top.
- A card cash advance is a loan from your bank, priced as one, and interest usually starts the same day rather than at the end of a billing cycle.
- E-wallets such as GCash and Maya are everyday retail tools in the Philippines but are not how a table is settled.
- Identification is part of the payment picture at the cage from defined thresholds upwards, since casinos are covered entities under the anti-money-laundering rules.
- Borrowing to play is the fastest way to turn an evening out into a problem — the amount you bring should be money you can lose without consequence.

Why the floor stays on cash
A gaming floor is a controlled environment, and cash plus chips is what makes it auditable. Every buy-in is counted aloud under a camera, every chip has a known value inside the building and none outside it, and every machine ticket is a serialised document. Card terminals at a table would break that chain of custody, which is why no licensed floor in the country runs one.
The cage is the seam between the two worlds. It exchanges cash for chips and back, handles foreign currency at the posted rate, and applies the identification rules that cover casinos as reporting entities from defined thresholds upwards. The queue at the cage is the only part of the process that varies, and it is longest around the change of shift and after a large event in the convention centre.
One practical warning about the convenience options. An ATM on a resort charges bank and network fees, and a foreign card adds its own spread; a card cash advance is a loan on which interest usually starts immediately. Both exist to make spending more money easy at the exact moment when that is the worst idea. Decide the number before you arrive, bring it in cash, and leave the card for the restaurant.
